Monkeypox Update
Monkeypox is a rare infectious disease, but currently there are a number of cases in the UK and some other countries. So far, many of the cases have been in men who have sex with men, but anybody can get Monkeypox.
The virus can be passed on if there is close contact between people and the risk to the UK population is low. Monkeypox can affect anyone, and it can be passed on through close physical contact like kissing, skin-to-skin, sex, or sharing towels.
The symptoms can include a rash with ulcers, fever, and muscle aches. Everyone should be aware of the symptoms, and contact a sexual health service by phone if they believe they may have Monkeypox.
